Skin Brightening Face MaskLe Turmeric Turmeric is a bright yellow spice used in many Indian, South Asian and Middle Eastern dishes, but what many Westerners do not know is that when combined with yogurt, milk or olive oil, it is also a brilliant mask.

Indian women use it as a brightening of the skin and it is common practice for Indian brides (and apparently their grooms) to smear a turmeric paste and sunflower oil on their skin to lighten their complexion for the wedding.

Actress Thandie Newton (who has a dark complexion) would add turmeric powder to its tinted moisturizer to give it the perfect shine.

Warning: Turmeric powder can stain clear skin. The same properties that make the brightness of the yellow and black skin can make women look pale pink skin. However, is the stain will disappear after a few hours. Turmeric is also stain washcloth used to remove the mask.
 
 ingredients:

    2 tablespoons flour (used to thicken pulp)
    1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder
    For oily skin: 1/4 cup plain yogurt and a few drops of lemon juice
    For dry skin: 2 tablespoons olive oil, almond oil or coconut oil, may be more
    Few drops of honey

Preparation:

Mix flour and turmeric together.

If you have oily skin: Add lemon juice and mix. Slowly stir in the yogurt until a creamy paste is formed. Use more or less yogurt to taste.

If you have dry skin: Add oil and stir gently until dough is formed. Add more for more smoothness.

Apply the mask to the face and neck and then sit back and relax for about 15 to 20 minutes. Using a hot wet washcloth that you do not mind because the coloring turmeric will stain, rinse the mask.
